The College of Fine Arts & Communications instituted the Internship & Career Services Office in order to assist students and alumni in locating internships and full-time employment. Many of the internships will provide pay and/or stipends.

There are over 2000 internship providers on file and more opportunities are received daily. A weekly newsletter for communications majors is produced and opportunities are posted on the boards and online. Many opportunities are located in the state of Utah, but we receive listings from high profile businesses all over the country. Our students have a reputation for their professionalism and are currently in high demand as businesses have started to realize the quality of work they can expect from BYU interns. Many of these opportunities even turn into job offers or invitations to return upon graduation.

The Internship & Career Services Office has a comprehensive listing of current openings and also a small library of reference materials and historic provider information to help with career choices and internships. Assistance is also available for writing of resumes, cover letters as well as tips for interviewing as students prepare for their internship and job search.

Our office accepts internship and job opportunity postings via our web site, email and fax. A weekly newsletter is prepared for students with listings categorized by emphases. In addition, the postings are available on our web site and posted on bulletin boards. We will also work with companies who want to visit campus and do interviews both for internships and full-time employment.

Internship providers should provide opportunities for students to use their classroom knowledge in a professional setting and provide supervision by a professional in communications. The students must work approximately 280 hours to fulfill their internship requirement. This can be part-time or full-time and paid or unpaid, although we recommend paying the interns because they are entry-level qualified when they begin.

During fall and winter semester the university sponsors a Career Fair where companies and students can meet, exchange information, and interviews take place. Registration materials will be sent upon request to companies wishing to participate. Check with Career Placement for more information. Or check out their website at: careerfair.byu.edu

Though most students utilizing the services of the Internship & Career Services Office are from the Communications Department, our services are available to all students in the College of Fine Arts & Communications, including graduate students and alumni. We encourage our alumni to help us connect our students with companies providing internship and job opportunities. Students with other majors are also welcome to visit our office.

For more information about our services, please contact us or come by and see us. Newsletters and job descriptions are posted outside 280 BRMB on the bulletin boards and listed on our web site: commsinternships.byu.edu. Internships and employment opportunities may be posted online on this site as well. Just select the Employer Submission Form and fill in the blanks.

We are excited to work with you!
