DANCE COMPANY AUDITIONS
Theatre Ballet seeks to be a gospel-oriented catalyst for students to achieve their highest potential. We aspire to serve, educate, and edify audiences through uplifting performances, outreach programs, and teaching opportunities
Auditions: Aug 20, 2012
- 4-7 p.m. 283 RB
Students who have achieved a 391 technique level are invited to attend. A pre-professional standard is expected. The audition consists of an advanced ballet technique class followed by some pointe technique for female auditionees and separate male technique for the men. Students do not need to be ballet majors to perform with the company. Other membership commitments are also required.
Ballet Showcase

The BYU Ballroom Dance Company tours nationally and internationally, and has traveled throughout Europe, the Middle East, South Africa, the South Pacific, Australia, and to the Far East, entertaining audiences of all ages. The Company is the undefeated U.S. Formation Champion and have won the prestigious British Formation Championships numerous times.
Auditions are the first Thursday of Fall & Winter Semester (September & January),

Students who audition for the Ballroom Dance Company must dance International or American-style waltz and cha-cha. If selected for the company, students must enroll in Dance 388R for team instruction. Other team commitments are also necessary.
Contemporary Dance has 3 unique dance companies; Contemporary Dance Theatre, dancEnsemble and Kinnect.
Contemporary Dance Theatre performs and teaches contemporary dance locally, nationally, and internationally. This small group of dancers performs a wide variety of choreographic styles.

dancEnsemble is composed of students who are performers and choreographers. The audition will determine the technical strengths and creative abilities of those who attend. Both performers and choreographers are welcome. Those admitted will register for Dance 368R. Other membership commitments are also required.

Kinnect is a student outreach performance dance company with a specific focus on developing teaching, creative, and performing skills in its members. They participate in creating and presenting dance “Lecture Performances” for local public schools, museums and community settings.

The International Folk Dance Ensemble provides performance opportunities in a broad spectrum of folk dance. Their exciting repertoire includes choreography from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North and South America. They have circled the globe conducting workshops, performing concerts, and appearing at international folk festivals where they represent the spirit of America's traditional music and dance.
Auditions are the first Wednesday of Fall & Winter Semesters
Women need to bring a partner. Students will dance a variety of international folk steps. If selected, enrollment in Dance 278R or 378R is required (based on audition placement). Other membership commitments are also required.
The Spring Performing Arts Company is a group of talented students that present an informative and entertaining assembly in public schools and local venues throughout the state of Utah during the Winter Semester and Spring Term.
