DANCE TALENT AWARD CRITERIA

Description of Award

The Brigham Young University Dance Talent Award is intended to encourage new students with superior talents. Four half-tuition awards are available for the period of one year. Four additional awards of $300 each may also be offered. Dance Talent Awards are presented on the basis of demonstrated dance talent. All awards must be used within the period for which they are given.

Eligibility

Applications are accepted from entering freshmen or transfer students with good academic standing as determined by the BYU Admissions Office.

Qualifications

The Dance Talent Awards Committee will be looking for prospective BYU students with expertise in at least one of the following areas: ballet, ballroom, folk, and modern. Talent in jazz, or other styles will be evaluated for its potential within the context of the above areas which are emphasized at BYU.

Recipients' Obligations

Upon enrollment at the University, recipients of Dance Talent Awards are expected to actively participate in a performing group in the area offering the award. (ballet, ballroom, folk, and modern).

Announcement of Awards

All applicants will be notified of the Dance Talent Award Committee's decision.

NOTE: Official confirmation of Dance Talent Awards cannot be made until the applicant is formally accepted to the University.
