Brigham Young University Department of Dance

Internship information sheet and guidelines

If you are interested in having an internship be part of your educational experience here at BYU please read the information below,

SELECTING AN INTERNSHIP

The dance department does not actively seek out internship possibilities for our students.   It is more likely that the student is made aware of an opportunity to participate in an experience that relates to the field of dance and is interested in receiving credit for that experience.  If you have an opportunity that you think will qualify for an internship experience please contact your major advisor to seek approval.   If the experience is approved it is likely that your advisors will create a course syllabus with specific learning outcomes.  To sign up for the course please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the home page of the university academic internship web site:  http://saas.byu.edu/intern/

  2. Click on “Students and Interns”

  3. Click on “Domestic  internships”  and follow the outlined steps .  There will be several forms that you must complete including the “Internship Master Agreement”  “Experience Information Sheet” and the “student agreement form”.

Once you have fully completed this process your application will be sent to the department internship coordinator ( Curt Holman) who will then forward you the permission to add code for dance 399r.  At the conclusion of the semester the on-site supervisor and your faculty advisor will evaluate your performance and assign you a grade for the course.
