WORLD DANCE
Educational Opportunities
Brigham Young University’s World Dance program is multifaceted, and is the largest dance program of its kind in the United States. Academic, technique, performance based, methodology, and composition courses are specifically designed in the world dance genre. Students audition for performing teams but all other courses are available for dance majors and the general student population. Specific dance courses are also offered in the technique and stylizations of China, Hungary, Ireland, Polynesian, Spain, and Ukraine. In addition to the talented faculty, each an expert in their own fields, students have opportunities to work with dance specialists from throughout the world who regularly visit the campus.
The World Dance Division allows over 200 students to perform in a major concert, “Christmas Around the World”, every December. In addition, elementary schools throughout Utah benefit from a cultural dance performance tour especially designed for K-6 students.
A minor in World Dance is available.
